Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of Winona Ryder named her for her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was an author and editor along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's father came from a Jewish family. Ryder believes she is Jewish. The actress is the younger sister of Uria as well as half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County, California when she was seven years old.
